Newborn Photoshoot in Blantyre, Lanarkshire With A Puppy

When Amy and James came to the studio with their baby daughter, it was for a newborn photoshoot in Blantyre.

It was lovely to hear that they lived just around the corner from me in my home town in Lanarkshire.
Most of my clients come from different towns, and I love that I have such a diverse client base, but James had walked past my sign which sits just off the main road. And as he had been thinking of booking a newborn photoshoot, he got in touch. And I just had the loveliest time getting to know them.

Bringing A Dog To A Newborn Photoshoot

They asked if they could also bring along their beautiful dog poppy, a brown and white border collie with one brown and one blue eye! They wanted to include poppy in their newborn shoot as not only is she a beautiful dog, but a member of the family, and a puppy too.

I love dogs and have a shetland sheepdog of my own, and this was my first time including a puppy in a newborn session, so I was over the moon.

Getting To Know You

I am a real people person. I love getting to know people, their experiences, places they have been, and the things they love and recommend.
And when Amy and James came into the studio, we started talking about dogs and how they play such a big part in our lives.

And then James started to tell me a fascinating story about his great grandfather and how his life had been saved during the war by his german shepherd dog Khan.

German forces had bombed his grandfather’s landing boat, and his grandfather did not make it to shore.
Khan had already swam to shore but realised his handler was not there with him, and hearing he was in trouble in the water, jumped back in and swam to him.
Khan grabbed James’s grandfather by the neck and dragged him to shore, saving his life. Other members of the unit also witnessed this heroic act by this incredible dog.

And rightly so, a statue has just been erected in Strathaven Park to the bravery of Khan and James’s Great Grandfather. And you can read the full story here covered by the BBC if you would like to know more about it.

After Your Newborn Photoshoot Session

After the session, Amy and James came back to view their beautiful images. (I offer viewings about 1-2 weeks after your photoshoot). I find this gives you plenty of time to think about what package would suit you best, with no pressure to purchase anything before you’ve had your photoshoot.
They included some wall art and a memory box that holds prints and a USB to capture and keep their memories—something their beautiful girl will love to look through when she is older and grown.
I know how much my daughter loves looking at photographs of herself when she was younger. And to have your images printed is so much more special than just on a USB, or downloading straight to your computer or tablet.

If you are thinking about a newborn photoshoot of your own and would like to find out more information, send me a message, and I would be happy to chat about any questions you have.  You can contact me here
